Claregate Park Rangers 2 vs 5 Codsall Station

Claregate were brought back down to earth from last week's win with a bump. Codsall running out 5-2 winners with a scoreline that slightly flattered the visitors.

Claregate got off to a flyer when John Goodwin spotted Rodney "Trotter" Williams' movement and played a 30 yard through ball for Trotter to run onto and finish from 14 yards just 5 minutes in. Claregate looked comfortable and in control for most of the 1st half but Codsall pulled one back on 24 minutes.

Half time score 1-1.

Codsall scored 2 in as many minutes shortly after the 2nd half started which seemed to rock Claregate's confidence and added goal 4 on 55 minutes and 5 on 66 minutes. Trotter pulled one back and scored his 2nd on 68 minutes, picking the ball up just inside the Codsall half and running 35 yards, holding off defenders to then finish from a tight angle. Claregate did show signs of recovery though but not able to create clear cut chances. Codsall's height and physical presence being the difference with 4 of their 5 goals coming from set pieces. A disappointing loss to a side that played to their strengths but Claregate will bounce back and continue to play with free flowing football.

Man of the match today went to Trotter for making the most of his chances. Subs involved, Ashley Campbell, Carlo Bandiera and Kevin Haughton. Next up is an away trip to Sporting Gornal.
