Black Country Fusion 0 vs 2 Claregate Park Rangers

Claragate ended Black Country Fusion's 100% win record this afternoon with a hard fought 2-0 away victory.

Ben Bickley, hitting a purple patch in form, opened the scoring when he received a pass from Burnzy, moved forward 10 yards and unleashed a belter past an outstretched keeper from 20 yards out. The rest of the first half saw both teams battling it out for chances but with little between them.

The 2nd half saw Fusion play more football in the Claregate half but the back 4 and the midfield stood firm, dealing with whatever was thrown at them. Substitute Ashley James (on for Jon Wilson on 55 mins) was brought down in the Fusion box after a good team move on 74 minutes. Daniel "Burnzy" Burns stepped up to convert the penalty to take the score to 2-0. There was late drama in the 90th minute when Burnzy received a 2nd yellow and his marching orders following a late challenge but 10 man Claregate held out for the win.

A team performance full of commitment and desire to win where we had to dig in at times and battle all over the pitch.

Man of the match today went to John Goodwin for his commanding presence at the back and all round excellent play but special mentions to all of the back four including skipper Thomas Banks, Kevin Haughton and Josh Hodson. Also the midfield trio of Daniel Burns, Ben Bickley and the ever dependable Danny Jones.

The most satisfying win of the season so far in the manager's eyes. A proper team performance.
