Today's away friendly to Black Country Fusion ended in a hard fought 3-3 draw.
Fusion kicked off the scoring with an early goal from a corner that was half cleared, the following shot ending up in the top corner leaving stand in keeper Jon Wilson with no chance. An injury to Ben Bickley forcing a change and a bit of a reshuffle. Rodney "Trotter" Williams brought the scores level just before half time with his 2nd freekick in as many games, placing his finish low to the keeper's right.
The second half saw Claregate with much more of the play after a change to 4-5-1. More and more chances being created but Fusion scored a freekick of their own closely followed by a speedy counter attack from our corner, adding a third to make the score 3-1. Claregate dug deep though when skipper Tom Banks found space in the box to control, turn and unleash a powerful finish to bring the score to 3-2. Kev Haughton and Sam "Woppy" Wapshott combined well on the right when Woppy delivered the perfect cross for Marc "Tommo" Thomas to head home the equalizer and Tommo's 2nd in as many games. Other players involved today, Ste Cater and Andrae Brown. Stand out performances from Trotter, Max, Tom Banks and Nathan but motm today went to Tommo. Special mention too for Jon Wilson who stepped up to play in goal after keeper Craig Beale's injury prevented him from starting.
