Clapham Common FC 0 vs 3 Bath Old Boys United

Our first cup defeat of the season and the Marcus Lipton cup run ends at the last 16.

We were well-beaten by BOB although the scoreline does seem a little harsh after a great performance from their keeper. The game started fairly even, with both sides having chances and both keepers forced into action. Baldwin-Smith came closest for CCFC after a one on one was snuffed out by the opposition number one.

Eventually the deadlock was broken just after the half hour mark - a tame effort on goal taking a bobble past Hall-Drinkwater, who was unable to adjust his dive in time. We headed in at half time one goal behind, knowing the game was still ours for the taking if we stepped it up in the second 45.

Second half BOBs came out strong and applied some pressure, culminating in their second goal as a vicious strike rocketed off the crossbar and was headed in by their forward. A well-worked third goal followed shortly after and BOBs looked well out of sight. CCFC did not stop battling and kept our heads high: Baldwin-Smith again came close, McManus saw a decent effort saved and Christian could have netted two or three, but it was just not our day as the Old Boys' keeper and defence held strong.
