On a very sunny and warm Saturday morning Chipstead's first pre-season friendly playiing 11 v 11 ended in a 4-4 draw after Walton hit back with 2 goals in the final 5 minutes of the match.

Using a 4-4-2 formation Chipstead started brightly with a well taken goal by Tiago. However, Walton levelled in the 10th minute when Chipstead's defence failed to clear a lofted free kick into the area and it was slotted home.

A few moments later another free kick from Walton nearly added to their score but Nico scrambled across to push the ball past the post.

Chipstead doubled their score in the 16th minute with a great long range strike from Ashton which sailed over the Walton keepers head.

In the 19th minute Aydan continued his fine scoring record from last season when he broke free and scored after rounding the Walton keeper.

Despite the scoreline, Walton continued to have their chances as Chipstead's back four struggled at times to hold a compressed shape and drop off when their opponents pushed forward.

The first of two breaks in play saw a change in Chipstead's line up as 5 players were substituted. Arguably this may have temporarily unbalanced the side and Walton pulled a goal back when a ball over Chipstead's back four was put away.

Chipstead's responded almost immediately when Aiden won the ball and sent Nana away on the right who after holding off a Walton defender cut in to the box and scored.

A further series of substitutions after a second break in play saw Chipstead drop off in performance with the midfield being too high and leaving gaps for Walton to pressure the Chipstead back four. The result was Chipstead conceding 2 goals in the final 5 minutes as Walton exploited the Chipstead defence's lack of pace and inability to withstand pressure from their forwards.

Overall a fair result on the day.
