Chipstead defeated a physical South Park side for the second time in three weeks to progress to the Q/F stage of the Presidents Cup.

On a very heavy pitch Chipstead had the lions share of possession in the first 15 minutes but failed to convert this into scoring opportunities.

Frustration turned into dismay when South Park were awarded a very soft penalty after their forward went down to a fair challenge by Jack in the penalty area.

Going down a goal sparked a Chipstead fightback led by Tiago and Nathan. Only a combination of excellent saves from the South Park keeper and blocks from the opponents defenders prevented Chipstead from drawing level.

Finally in the 30th minute a finely weighted pass from Ashton put Tiago in on goal which he finished beautifully. Four minutes later Tiago turned from scorer to provider when his pass to Nana allowed the latter to score shooting over the keeper who had come a few metres off his line.

The second half saw Chipstead quickly increasing their lead from Tiago free kick after one of many fouls on him from the South Park defenders.

When Freddy was hacked down in the box Chipstead looked to further extend their lead but the referee inexplicantly waved play on despite the protestations of Chipstead players, coaches and spectators.

At the other end Aydan, Desmond and Sonny managed to break down most of the South Park counter attacks.

A lapse in concentration however, allowed South Park back into the game in the 45th minute when somehow we failed to deal with an attack down the right and a cross was converted.

Spurred on by the goal South Park increased their efforts which at times crossed the line in terms of physicality. In the face of poor refereeing decisions and control Chipstead however, kept their nerve and held on to progress into the next round.
