Northgate 3 vs 2 Chester Eagles

A game full of thrills for Chester Eagles in their first ever 11 aside performance. They faced an experienced Northgate side expecting an easy win.

The back four looked solid throughout - Joe Pardoe and Sam Olyott winning every challenge - and Eagles were on top early on. A goal disallowed for a push was frustrating for the Oranges, but Deiniol Williams sprang up like a salmon to give the side a worthy lead.

Unfortunately for the debuting side they conceded in the dying moments of the first half, after Alex Taylor had made some excellent saves. The second half momentum stayed with Northgate who took the lead before the second drinks break, and added a third shortly after.

Taylor kept the scoreline at 3-1 before Daniel Francis finished off a fabulous solo run with a delicate finish to make it 3-2. The Eagles were charging up the pitch in search of an equaliser with seconds to go. Josh picked up the ball and fired from the edge of the box thundering the post as the Eagles gave a sigh of desperation. As the final whistle blew Chester Eagles looked satisfied with their first match, with all involved giving an excellent account of themselves. Fans were not disappointed.
