Casuals and Pelham made it 3 wins out of 3 in pre season as they ran out 4-2 winners at home against SC Birchanger. Once again a 13 man squad from Pelham was a poor show again considering the squad depth they have and that needs to change in these last few fixtures before the 2017/18 campaign starts for real, but another opportunity for some decent minutes on the pitch to those who turned up. SC Birchanger took an early lead after 6 minutes and made it 1-0. Considering the amount of goals over the last two games you would expect some more shortly after but that's how the scoreline stayed up to the hour mark. However Pelham equalised just after 60 minutes, a Steve Callan corner found the head of today's skipper Ant Hamilton-Pilot, making it 1-1. 1-1 became 2-1 shortly after, Jamie Richards making the most of a defensive mistake from the opposition and tucking the ball home from 18 yards out, 2-1 to Pelham. Pelham then found a little bit of breathing space as Tim Shaw kept up his impressive feat of scoring in every game so far this season and getting his 6th goal in 3 games making it 3-1. However SC Birchanger weren't done yet and made it a nervy finish as they cut the deficit by pulling a goal back in the 82nd minute, 3-2 to Pelham. However Pelham responded 2 minutes later to restore their 2 goal advantage, Grant Clark getting in on the act this time to make it 4-2 to the home side. That's how it stayed and Pelham won the game 4-2. Today's man of the match was a tough one as there were many good performances. More solid at the back this week with Colin Hedges doing well coming back into the side, Tim Shaw once again playing a big part but this week it goes to Lee Simper, who followed up a good performance against Stortford Wanderers a couple of weeks back with another today against SC Birchanger.
