Bury AFC Red Team - Overs 0 vs 0 Manchester Laces FC Busby

Bury AFC Women’s Red Team took on Manchester Laces at Goshen, in their second league match. From the off, red team looked lively and took much of the early possession and challenged the Laces keeper a few times. Carly had an excellent effort from long range! However, Laces managed to take the lead against the run of play. Before long though, Julie got hold of the ball, beat a couple of players and unleashed a great shot that the keeper was unable to deal with. Red team pushed to take the lead and had several really good efforts but just couldn’t find the back of the net again. An indirect free kick was awarded in the box when Laces played a pass back but nothing came of it. Then Laces had the perfect opportunity to steal the 3 points in the dying minutes, but the Bury back line (led by our confident keeper Karen) threw everything at it to keep the ball out. The game ended 1-1 and red team left happy to put their first point on the table. Player of the Match was awarded to Fran Sharples who made several excellent tackles and positive passes throughout the game, but the whole team played brilliantly and worked very well together. Thanks to Manchester laces - a really nice team to play against.
