The big news before kickoff was Ilyas being a late drop out due to Covid, but manager Stu astutely moving in the transfer market to pick up a last minute one game only loan signing, Phil Intertoto James!
Harretons appeared to have been active in the transfer / ringer market as well, picking up a number of useful signings, including an excellent French number 9, who would prove a real thorn in our side.
Usual poor start, big French striker running through and finishing past Tyson. He broke again a bit later, after a loose pass, squaring this time for his fellow striker to finish. 0-2 at sort of half time. George advised Sam and me to “leave something on him” but easier said than done and to be fair he seemed like a nice lad.
Second half the number 9 lost me at a corner before ficking a corner through Tyson’s legs.
We got back into it with a long range hook into the top of the net from Phil and were really starting to worry them when a smart free kick from Sam was buried by George.
Their goalkeeper was time wasting and slow to return the ball, prompting George to call him a fat bastard!
Anyway, we pressed but could not quite get the equaliser. Good game though.
