BoC F.C. 5 vs 3 Broomwood FC

Perfect night at Battersea to face old foes Broomwood.

Started with a pretty old (perhaps kinder to say experienced) back 5 and more youthful front 6, Andy slightly lowering the average age when he arrived late to slot in at right back, allowing Rich to step into midfield.

A great start when Danny lobbed a great assist through and Paul found the net. It got even better when Paul found Olly who cut back and beat the keeper low into the net.

Broomwood grew into the game and got one back with a tap in from a cross, then finished the half strongly, searching for an equaliser. Calling out one outstanding save from Tyson from an oppo instinctive shot after a free kick. 2-1 at the break.

It was thankfully one of those games where whenever we were under the cosh a bit, our strikers, Olly in particular, grabbed a goal to ease the pressure. So it proved, a punt up the wing by George taken down and finished by Olly for his second. But the oppo number 4 stepped through a couple of challenges before finding the bottom corner. 3-2.

They really then should have equalised, the oppo striker with a back heel that just went wide of the post.

In a very timely fashion, Olly went up the other end and bagged another 2, for the 5-2 lead and despite the oppo getting another one back and another brilliant stop from Tys from a one on one we held on for the 5-3 win against a team we do have a poor record against. So that was satisfying!

Played well across the team, to be fair, but all agreed to give the MotM to Tyson for an exceptional game between the sticks.
