The mooted positional mix-up, pineapple upside-down cake formation didn't get an airing last night which perhaps altered the mindset of some once the game commenced. Zamora had been preparing all week doing shuttle runs to and from his pasta and lucozade ahead of a start up front; Ily had been clipping his balls down the line at home, yearning to make his mark on the coveted left back spot; Junior had been consulting 'The' Hoff on the art of defending and positional play in order to not make a pig's ear of his dream move to right back; Latchford had vowed to be a commanding presence at centre half and spent the week practicing how to jump (off the ground...with both feet) for headers. Alas 'twas all for nought. No Tyson this week so Stu fell on his sword and went in nets first off, management 101 - don't ask others to do something you're not prepared to do yourself - top man. Also well done to Jnr, Zondervan and Latchford who all did a shift there too. Starting line-up then:

Stu

Zondervan / Sheedy / Zamora / Charles

Jnr / (our) (cousin) Andy / Punt / Tom

Ily / Latchford

ASJS have strengthened considerably and gave us a good hiding. We played okay in patches but can't remember their keeper having to make any saves of note. Latchford's brother from another mother, Pedro, had a field day for them up top scoring three with assists from Sheedy, Zamora and Stu to boot. It was all about the woefully under hit pass from the BOC back line, nevertheless he did finish his goals well. Simon (long hair, France top) got their fourth curling into the top corner first time. Jnr was unlucky at the other end for us, skillfully bringing down a high ball and turning the centre back in the same movement before wafting his shot narrowly over the bar. Good turns are good turns you pricks.

Good pub turnout with six in attendance. The pros and cons of central America, music, the complexities of wedding planning and Facebook stalking featuring heavilyin the conversation. Lots of slender forms to gaze at due to the birthday party opposite. Win for the pub, but not on the pitch.
