Black Cats 2 vs 6 Shawside Juniors Boca U7

The excitement was there this morning despite the weather and two teams faced up who’d been scoring loads in the competition to this point - Black Cats v Shawside Inter.

The first 10 minutes showed why Shawside score so many, with several players possessing powerful shots and putting them into a two goal lead. Rudy pulled one back for the Black Cats and restored some belief.

Without our normal keeper, Cian, glove duties were with Eddie, Zac and Arthur who all filled in really well and the Shawside shots wouldn’t have been stopped by any U7 keeper.

Moving into the second half and mid week sickness and 2 or 3 injuries left us fielding boys who weren’t 100%. The attacking spark just wasn’t with us today and when it was Shawside were there with the tackle, trip or save.

Joel managed to scramble in a goal in the second half, and Harry had a great chance from a free kick but it wasn’t to be.

Special mention to Kole for a strong and brave defensive performance - toughest job on the pitch today and he didn’t it with such composure.

All the boys should be super proud of getting this far in the competition and or their positive attitudes today in the face of adversity.
