Santos Sports U8’s 6-6 Rainford Rangers

This was some game!

Early kick off at Brookvale for the boys today, and in fairness we took a while to wake up, not playing at our usual standard and pace for the first 10-15 minutes which allowed Rainford to get control.

The boys all grew into the game though, playing some really good football and creating more and more chances, with Abel Leo and Luca all scoring well worked goals to put us back in the game.

Second half was end to end, with Rainford dangerous and effective with some nice passing moves. We came back again though, with Abel adding a fantastic free kick followed by an even better goal from a mazy dribble to get us right back in the game. Oliver’s pass to Eddie followed by some quality down the left then set up Harry to finish before a late free kick from Rainford brought the game level.

It wasn’t all about the goals as Blake and Oliver’s interceptions, crunching tackles and passing from the back was so important, as was Sandro’s handling and bravery in goal keeping Rainford at bay time and time again.

From 1-0 down after 30 seconds, 4-1 down after

12 minutes and 5-3 down just after half time, the boys deserve HUGE credit for coming back to 6-5 up before being pipped by a last minute equaliser.

Both sets of coaches at the end agreed it was a really entertaining game to watch.
