Long early trip to Wigan this morning, (which thanks to the wonderful fixture makers at WJFL we will do 3 times in our first 4 away fixtures in 2026 - I’m not bitter though)??

Freezing conditions so both teams agreed 6v6 in the interests of all the players getting more time on the pitch and less stood in the cold.

Cherrybrook were fastest out the blocks, putting pressure on and creating chances, forcing some good saves from Sandro. The boys had to work hard against a very talented team. Blake and Oliver defended really well, helping the team take more control, as we added goals through Abel and Eddie (twice) before half time.

The second half was even more of a battle as Cherrybrook put more pressure on.

Luca added a smart finish for us on the break but then in a crazy 10 minute spell we were sloppy keeping the ball and Cherrybrook forced mistakes, taking advantage with some quality finishes and making a fantastic comeback to level the scores.

Sandro also made a fantastic penalty save before a final minute free kick from Harry won the game.

(3-0 up half time, then 4-0, back to 4-3, saved a penalty, then 4-4 & win it last minute 5-4…. It’s good to be back ??)
