Sunday 20th September Under 9s v Epsom EaglesFC

The Tunbridge Wells Foresters under 9s Spartak Tandridge team played their league game of the new season on Sunday away to Epsom Eagles FC. The game ended in a 4-1 win for Foresters.

Foresters started the match looking very nervous and conceded an early goal when following a goalmouth scramble the home team scored in the 3rd minute. Strangely though this setback seemed to settle boys down and they equalised almost immediately when Luke Credland headed in a Robert Lawrence corner. Foresters now began to dominate the possession and added to the scoreline in the 16th minute when Joseph Pickett scored following a good passage of play between Ollie Plunkett and Erik Anderberg. Foresters continued to press forward but could not convert any more of their chances so at half-time the scoreline remained 2-1 to Foresters.

In the second half the boys continued to pass the ball around and they continued to create chances but they could not beat the Epsom goalkeeper who made several good saves to keep his team in the game. Foresters finally got the third goal when a well worked move ended with Fraser Abbott scoring from an acute angle after a good pass Matt Horlock. Epsom now started to get back into the game and Luca Caria made several good saves and aided by some solid defending from Josh Williams and Luke Credland kept Foresters two goal lead intact. Then following a good lay off from Johnny Phillips, Joseph Pickett got his second goal and Foresters fourth with five minutes remaining.

Well done to all the boys on a coming back from a goal down and getting a good result against a strong Epsom team and also for playing some excellent football during the course of the game.
