Esker Celtic 3 vs 1 Ballymun utd 2009

Ballymun travelled to high flying esker Celtic in hermitage park on Saturday morning on the hunt for 3 points. The lads have been playing really nice football the last few weeks but haven’t got the results they’ve wanted to show for it.. Ballymun started brightly early on creating a couple of early chances which could have been put away.. esker caught onto a loose ball and punished inside the area to make it 1-0 inside 15 mins. Ballymun then had a bizarre goal disallowed for handball which was an absolutely appalling decision by the referee as it was handled by an esker player inside the area. Should have been 1-1. But it wasn’t and esker piled on some pressure from this decision and their right back jumped highest in the box from a corner to header home to put the Mun 2-0 down going into halftime. Second half reaction was excellent, ballymun dominated early and could have found themselves almost level with a couple of really really good chances in the area but the extra touch wasn’t needed and esker got away with it.. they then caught Ballymun on a break to make it 3-0. Undeserved from the balance of the second half but that’s what happens. We got a free kick a minute from the end and our ever reliable Lj stepped up once again and put it away for his fourth free kick in 3 games. Final score 3-1. MOTM Aaron Rafferty who was absolutely outstanding at the back????
