Petershill 3 vs 0 Ashfield Football Club

Ashfield made the short distance up the road to take on SuperLeague Premier Division outfit Petershill in a night which was more akin to a night in November than early August. It had been a while since the `field had met Petershill in a competitive match here and it was a Paul Maxwell inspired performance that day in 2013 that secured a 3-2 victory in the `top league`. The `field`s priority this Season is the League and they made a number of changes due to injuries to the starting line up however the `makeshift` team did more than hold their own in the first half with chances following to Parker and Friel. John Mullen in the Ashfield goal was kept busy blocking a number of angular shots as Petershill utilised the flanks well. Just as Ashfield were thinking about their half time cup of Tea, the home side broke the deadlock following an inswinging corner in the 43rd minute.

HT Petershill 1 Ashfield 0. The second half was a bit flat and disappointing from the visitors with the `peasy` stepping up a gear to ensure they won the Sectional League Cup group. Further goals in the 52nd and 77th Minute made it a comfortable second half for the home side however the `field can be happy with the experience of playing higher league opposition as they bid to haul themselves out of the West Region 2nd Division.
