Finally our N.I.B.F.A. Cup match 1st round was on, with a last minute change of venue as Magherafelt High School pitch unplayable on Friday afternoon the match was moved to Moneymore Recreation Centre. So Saturday Morning 9am seen us board the Bus and off we went to Moneymore.

We arrived in plenty of time and had a good look at the pitch which was quite small and very bumpy but at least it was playable.

The match got underway and the boys started well and within the first couple of minutes created a good couple of chances but were unlucky not to score, then came the sucker punch in the 5th minute when the Referee awarded Magherafelt a penalty which they scored from and we now trailing 1 : 0. The boys kept pushing but to no avail and at half time we went in 1 : 0 down.

The second half was probable our poorest second half we’ve played this season with us conceding two silly goals, it was starting to show as the boy’s fitness was low due to a four week break without football but they kept trying right to the end. Then two minute from the end we lost two players due to red cards a bad end to a bad day.

MANEGERS COMMENTS:

An all round frustrating day for everyone, I know we can play better and we have shown that all season, so time to get back on track and win the league and cup you all know you can do boys.

Final the most frustrating thing for me was arriving at Moneymore to play Magherafelt Sky Blues to find out that the Referee appointed was also from Magherafelt and poor in to the bargain. Well done to Magherafelt and good luck for the next round.
