This was the second group game of the memorial cup and after drawing the opening game we were in need of 3 points in order to go through as group winners. This would be no easy task though as we were playing against premier division opposition. We were also down to the bare bones for this one with Goggles out injured for the rest of the season joined on the injury list by Hutchy. Tam, Mitch and Aaron were serving the last game of their suspensions and the two Craig’s and the gaffer were at a wedding.

There wasn’t much to write up about in the opening 20 minutes with chances few and far between. We then lost 2 sloppy goals and were up against it. Our best chance of the first half fell to big Darren but his strike from the edge of the box came off the crossbar.
HT 2-0
We upped the tempo in the second half and gradually came back into the match with Liam scoring from Ecky’s cross before the hour mark. We then had a great chance to pull level from the penalty spot but Liam’s penalty was saved by the keeper. We pressed for an equaliser but couldn’t find it and the game was lost.
FT 2-1
Just one point from the opening two group games but a victory in the last match can still see us qualify for the memorial cup in second spot as long as Riverside don’t beat Camperdown in the other group match.
